The mother of a former people's deputy was involved in subversive activities against Ukraine. She has been sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to sources from RBK-Ukraine in law enforcement, this concerns the mother of former people's deputy from the "Party of Regions" Irina Berezhna - Elena Berezhna.
The prosecution proved that the accused is a citizen of Ukraine and the head of a Ukrainian human rights NGO. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, she has assisted the aggressor country in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine.
In particular, in February 2022, as the chairperson of a Ukrainian human rights organization, she prepared a letter addressed to the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Nebenzia. In her letter, Berezhna employed manipulative narratives regarding events that supposedly took place in Kyiv and Ukraine. In doing so, she attempted to justify the military aggression of the Russians.

Meanwhile, Russian curators advised the woman in correspondence to "stay home until complete cleansing."
On February 28, 2022, during the eleventh emergency special session of the UN General Assembly, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Nebenzia, referenced this letter in his official speech as evidence of illegal actions by Ukraine.
The woman has been found guilty of treason by the court, specifically for providing assistance to a foreign state, foreign organization, and their representatives in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine. She has been sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a priest from one of the churches in the Kharkiv Diocese of the UOC (MP), who is suspected of collaborating with Russian intelligence services.
