The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv is determining the preventive measure for Oleg Poberezhniuk, the commander of the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by a correspondent from RBK-Ukraine from the courtroom.
During the session, the prosecution emphasized that since February 2024, Poberezhniuk had received reports regarding the "systematic infliction of severe physical pain or moral suffering" on military personnel by the commander of the engineering and technical platoon of the first pontoon-bridge battalion, Vladyslav Pastukh. However, the commander ignored such messages.
It is worth noting that law enforcement authorities re-arrested Poberezhniuk only yesterday, December 29. He was notified of the suspicion concerning the inaction of military authority, committed under martial law or in combat conditions.
Recall that recently, media outlets reported on the brutal behavior of officers towards soldiers in the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There were even instances where one of the soldiers was tied to a wooden cross.
Amid this, the brigade commander Oleg Poberezhniuk was notified of suspicion for abusing his official position. According to law enforcement, Poberezhniuk involved four soldiers in the construction of his house in the Khmelnytskyi region.
The court has chosen a preventive measure for the commander in the form of arrest with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 900 thousand hryvnias. Poberezhniuk was released from the pre-trial detention center on bail on December 20.
By the way, on December 26, it became known that the platoon commander Vladyslav Pastukh, who had abused the soldiers, was also notified of suspicion.
