Temperature fluctuations of nearly 20 degrees: December weather recap for Kyiv.

The average air temperature in December 2024 in Kyiv was 0 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees above the climatic norm.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to climatologists, the coldest day in the capital was December 14, when the minimum temperature dropped to 9.8 degrees in the early morning, while the warmest day was December 19, when the maximum temperature reached 8.0 degrees in the afternoon.

Precipitation on Science Avenue, 37 amounted to 52 mm, or 111% of the climatic norm.

Weather in Kyiv in 2024

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, the average air temperature in autumn 2024 in Kyiv was 11.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.7 degrees above the long-term average values.

This autumn ranked third among the warmest since 1881 in the capital, matching the temperature of last year's autumn. A total of 11 temperature records were set, observed in September.

It is worth noting that the meteorological winter arrived in Kyiv five days earlier than usual on November 24. The earliest winter in Kyiv was recorded on October 20, 1920, while the latest was on December 29, 2015. In the 2019-2020 period, meteorological winter never occurred.
