The coal mine "Pokrovskoye Management" near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region has suspended operations. This is the largest coking coal mine in Ukraine.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine with a link to the company's press service.
The halted site houses the vertical shaft of the "Pokrovskoye" mine and the administrative complex. It is also known that the main staff and their families have been evacuated.
"Other key facilities continue to operate. "Metinvest," in cooperation with the Pokrovsk city military administration and representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is closely monitoring the security situation in the city and at industrial sites," the statement said.
It is important to note that the decision to continue operations at all industrial sites will be made considering the situation at the front.
"Pokrovskoye Management" is one of the largest coal enterprises in Ukraine, located in the Donetsk region.
It specializes in the extraction of coking coal, which is used in the metallurgical industry. The enterprise is one of the leading coal producers in the country and plays a significant role in the region's economy, providing jobs for thousands of workers.
In recent years, "Pokrovskoye" has been operating under challenging conditions due to military actions in the region, which affect its production processes and logistics.
It is worth reminding that earlier media reported that Russians might be preparing an offensive on Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This operation could be the culmination of the Russian offensive in this direction.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, for several months, the Pokrovsk direction has remained one of the most challenging in the context of resistance against Russian occupiers. Russian losses there are consistently high.
