On Tuesday, December 17, Russian military aircraft were spotted in the identification zone of Alaska's air defense. They did not enter the airspace of the United States or Canada.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine with a reference to the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

The agency noted that the Russian planes operated within the identification zone of Alaska's air defense. They remained in international airspace and did not breach U.S. or Canadian sovereign airspace.

"Such Russian activity in the ADIZ near Alaska occurs regularly and is not considered a threat," the statement said.

At the same time, Russian sources reported that their Tu-95MS bombers were flying near Alaska. They stated that the flight of the missile carriers was planned. It's also worth noting that the Tu-95MS is the type of aircraft that Russia uses for large-scale missile strikes on Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported that in July, American and Canadian fighter jets intercepted several Russian and Chinese bombers off the coast of Alaska.

Then, in August, an American Coast Guard vessel detected a Russian ship within the exclusive economic zone of the U.S. near the Aleutian Islands (Alaska).
