Journalists reported what is known about these missiles that Russia may have received from Iran.
The ballistic missile was first showcased during a military parade in Tehran in April 2022.
The missile measures 5.2 meters in length and can carry a warhead weighing 150 kilograms—approximately three times the payload of the Shahed drones, which are of Iranian design and used by Russia against Ukraine.
The system resembles a civilian vehicle, making it harder to detect from the air.
The Fath-360 has a relatively imprecise strike radius of about 30 meters.
The maximum speed of the Fath-360 is around 5000 kilometers per hour, which means that intercepting it is very challenging.
However, the Fath-360 missiles have a much shorter range of 120 kilometers, so they are likely to pose a threat only to areas near the front line.
Additionally, there are reports in the media that Tehran is training Russian military personnel in the use of Iranian missiles.
On September 9, a representative of the U.S. State Department told reporters that Washington is "very concerned" about reports of the transfer of Fath-360 missile systems to Russia.
On September 10, the United States imposed new sanctions on Iran in response to the military support provided by Tehran to the Russian Federation, likely including potential supplies of ballistic missiles for use in the war against Ukraine.
