The author of the cookbook "Your Best Recipes," Ukrainian culinary blogger Tatyana Yushina, demonstrated how to make the perfect pumpkin porridge with milk.

"The proportions I'm about to share are simply perfect!!! Just try making it this way; the porridge turns out incredibly delicious!" – advises the chef.

This time, the blogger prepared pumpkin porridge with rice, but you can substitute it with millet, bulgur, barley, or oats. To make the ideal pumpkin porridge, we will need the following ingredients:

  • pumpkin - 800 g (peeled, without skin and seeds)
  • water – half a cup
  • milk - 350 g
  • grains (rice or another) – 150 g
  • salt and sugar – to taste
  • butter – for serving

"If desired, you can add apples, raisins, cinnamon, cherries, and other berries.
Experiment!" – noted the blogger.

Cut the pumpkin into small cubes, place them in a pot, add half a cup of water, and simmer for about 10 minutes.

After that, pour the milk over the pumpkin, and top it with the grains. Important: do not stir the grains at all, otherwise, they may burn.

Add salt and sugar to taste and cook the porridge on low heat with the lid on for 30 minutes.

Only after that, stir the porridge well to turn the pumpkin cubes into a puree. At the end, add a piece of butter to the pumpkin porridge, mix everything again, and serve immediately.
