According to the State Border Guard Service, the men intended to illegally cross the border towards Romania but got lost in the Carpathians for three days due to a lack of a route and necessary equipment.
The border guards and rescuers located the offenders after an hour and a half of searching. They were taken to the hospital with a diagnosis of hypothermia.
Administrative protocols were also drawn up against the men.
As a reminder, at the beginning of January, the police conducted over 60 searches as part of cases regarding the illegal exit of conscripted men from the country. Law enforcement agencies dismantled nearly 50 schemes of illegal border crossings across 22 regions of Ukraine.
Later, the police reported new searches, uncovering schemes for smuggling men across the border in 19 regions.
Additionally, the State Bureau of Investigation recently announced suspicion against a member of parliament for organizing the illegal smuggling of men across the border. According to sources from RBK-Ukraine, the suspicion was handed to MP Konstantin Bondarev from the "Batkivshchyna" party.
