This month, Germany will deploy Patriot air defense systems in the Polish city of Rzeszów, which is located close to the Ukrainian border.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made this announcement, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "Radio Free Europe."
According to him, Ukraine's partners recognize the significant importance of Rzeszów as a logistical hub when it comes to assisting Ukraine.
"I do not have a detailed schedule of my meetings for the next two weeks, especially considering that there is currently an election campaign in Germany, but I will personally go to Rzeszów in January to ensure that the Patriot defense systems will start operating there this month," Pistorius stated.
Let us recall that back in 2023, a service center opened in Poland for the repair of Ukrainian Leopard tanks.
Earlier, we reported that in Rzeszów, NASAMS air defense systems and F-35 fighters were deployed to protect the logistics center for aid to Ukraine.
Additionally, Norway has promised to transfer F-35 fighters and NASAMS air defense systems to Poland for the protection of the logistics center.
At the end of November last year, Germany announced its readiness to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Poland to protect the key logistics hub that facilitates the delivery of materials to Ukraine. Berlin plans to do this in early 2025.
