Recently, a real waterfall formed again on the Paton Bridge in Kiev, and the footage quickly spread across the internet.
At that time, the Kyiv City State Administration assured that this "waterfall" was controlled; it was supposedly a leak of the heat carrier during hydraulic tests in preparation for the heating season.
The Paton Bridge was built in 1953, and the Metro Bridge followed in 1965; however, neither has undergone major repairs since then.
The Rybalsky Bridge, constructed in 1945, also requires repairs.
Similarly, the Southern Bridge, which opened in 1990, has never been significantly renovated.
Throughout the operation of the bridge, the riverbed and floodplain spans have been replaced three times, with the last replacement occurring in 2005, nearly 20 years ago.
The Darnytsky Railway Bridge, which was commissioned in 1951, is also in need of reconstruction.
The situation is slightly better for the Park Bridge, which opened in 1957. In 2015, a bicycle lane was added to the bridge, and it underwent reconstruction in 2017.
Recently, in 2019, the Rusanivsky Metro Bridge, which was put into operation in 1965, was repaired.
People's Deputy Vitaliy Bezgin described the situation with the bridges as catastrophic. According to him, the infrastructure in Kyiv is crumbling.
