The former head of the Brovary District State Administration, Volodymyr Maibozhenko, has been fined 34,000 hryvnias. This punishment was imposed by the court for a drunk driving incident in Brovary.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Brovarymedia and the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office on Telegram.
According to the court's decision, in addition to the fine of 34,000 hryvnias, Maibozhenko has also been banned from driving for three years. He is required to pay 31,432 hryvnias for forensic examinations and other court costs.
The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office explained that the verdict is a result of a "reconciliation agreement between the former head of the Brovary District State Administration and the victims." However, the prosecutors disagree with this decision and will insist on its annulment.
As stated by the prosecutor's office, the prosecutor submitted a written objection to the possibility of reaching a reconciliation agreement in this case, as it does not align with public interests and the Criminal Code.
"The specified verdict will be appealed in the established legal manner to the appellate court," the regional prosecutor's office emphasized.
It is worth recalling that on April 26 of last year, then-head of the Brovary District State Administration Volodymyr Maibozhenko hit four people at a crosswalk.
During the sobriety check, the breathalyzer indicated a level of 2.31 permille, exceeding the maximum permissible limit of 0.2 permille.
Following this accident, Maibozhenko was placed under custody. By early September, media reports indicated that the former official was released from pre-trial detention on personal recognizance.
