The operation to destroy the Russian Mi-8 helicopter using a naval drone is historic.

This was reported by the head of the GUR MO, Kirill Budanov, as stated by RBK-Ukraine citing a telethon.

According to him, the Magura V5 drones had previously attacked enemy air forces several times. However, at that time, the Russian equipment still managed to reach the coastline, even though it was hit.

"Today, for the first time, a helicopter was shot down; it fell into the water. This means that the destruction of an aerial target over the Black Sea has been confirmed. The second one, by the way, was also hit. It was able to reach the airfield and make an emergency landing," Budanov explained.

What preceded it

This morning, it became known that Ukrainian special forces of the GUR MO "Group 13" have for the first time in the world destroyed an aerial target using the strike naval drone Magura V5. This refers to the elimination of an enemy Mi-8 helicopter.

Ukrainian naval drones

Ukrainian naval drones have become a crucial element of modern military technologies, demonstrating their effectiveness in the war against Russia.

Magura V5 is a well-known model capable of destroying aerial targets. The drones are equipped with cameras, GPS navigation, and artificial intelligence, with some models operating at distances of over 800 km.

The targets of the drones include military ships, ports, air defense systems, and strategic facilities in occupied territories. They also ensure the security of maritime corridors and civilian shipping.

Recall that in May of this year, the Magura V5 drones inflicted damage on the Russian Black Sea Fleet amounting to $500 million.
