Belarus will conduct military exercises near the border with Ukraine. They will last until January 31.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.

According to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, from January 8 to January 31, training exercises will be held under the direction of the chairman of the Gomel District Executive Committee with military personnel of the territorial troops.

During the exercises, the following activities are planned:

  • the reception of military personnel of the territorial troops and their comprehensive support using the local mobilization deployment base;
  • the restoration of command skills among the leadership of the territorial troops in managing subordinates;
  • the preparation of military personnel for task execution, particularly in cooperation with the engineering units of the Armed Forces.

According to the monitoring channel "Belaruski Hayun," during the exercises in Belarus, a call-up of reservists will be implemented. Additionally, the command of the rifle battalion will restore skills in managing subordinate units. It is likely that the formation of people's militia units will also be practiced during the exercises.

It is noteworthy that Gomel District has become the first region in Belarus where territorial defense exercises will take place in 2025. It is important to mention that this district borders the Chernihiv region of Ukraine.

Military Exercises in Belarus

Since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Belarus has been actively supporting the Russian regime. Russian troops, aviation, and military equipment are stationed on its territory.

Moreover, the Belarusian authorities participate in provocations, echoing Kremlin accusations against Ukraine, particularly regarding alleged violations of airspace. Minsk has also reported the redeployment of additional forces to the Ukrainian border.

It is worth recalling that on Tuesday, January 7, it became known that Belarus is increasing its military presence at the border with Ukraine. Additional troops have been redeployed there.

It is noted that in the event of missile launches from Belarusian territory, they could reach the Ukrainian region within minutes.
