Due to the morning Russian airstrike on Kyiv, debris from an enemy target was reported to have fallen in the Pechersk district of the capital on January 1. A non-residential building caught fire.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) and the mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko.
"As a result of the strike by Russian Armed Forces' attack drones on Kyiv, debris has been recorded falling in the Pechersk district of the city. Preliminary information indicates that the debris fell on non-residential structures," the KMVA reported.
The administration added that no information about possible casualties had been received and noted that details regarding the aftermath are being clarified.
The KMVA also pointed out that the air assault on the capital is ongoing, and air defense systems are operational in the city.
The mayor of Kyiv confirmed preliminary reports of a fire in Pechersk.
"As a result of the enemy attack, there is reportedly a fire in a non-residential area in the Pechersk district. All services are being dispatched to the scene," the mayor stated.
Later, Klitschko reported that there is also a fire on the roof and in one of the apartments of a residential building in the Pechersk district.
The city mayor mentioned that one person sought medical attention.
"There is also information about debris falling on another non-residential building in the Pechersk district," he added.
The mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, later stated that two upper floors of a residential building in Pechersk were partially destroyed.
"All services are working at the scene. Currently, one person is injured and has been hospitalized," he conveyed.
It was previously reported that from the evening of December 31, 2024, Russian occupiers launched attack drones towards Ukraine for another strike. An air raid alert was declared in several regions.
Around seven o'clock in the morning, air defense systems began operating in Kyiv Oblast due to enemy drones.
Later, explosions were heard in Kyiv amid the drone attack.
