The situation in Pokrovsk remains challenging. There are two kilometers from the front line to the outskirts of the city.
According to RBK-Ukraine, this was reported by the head of the Pokrovsk city military administration, Sergey Dobryak, during a national telethon.
"There are about a couple of kilometers left to the outskirts of the city, let's say, to the nearest point of the outskirts. In general, our security situation is deteriorating every day, especially concerning shelling. The intensity and number of attacks are increasing daily," Dobryak stated.
He mentioned that the Russians are fully utilizing all the equipment they have to strike the city, its surroundings, and the villages nearby. This includes both FPV drones and artillery, as well as mortars and KABs.
"As for critical infrastructure, almost all of it has been completely destroyed. In some places, we have water distribution points and a few heating stations operational. However, there is no electricity, no gas supply, limited water supply, and, of course, no heating. Regarding the population, about 7,000 people remain in the city. Thankfully, there are no children," he said.
The Russian army has set a goal to capture the city of Pokrovsk since the beginning of autumn. According to a representative of the Joint Forces Operation "Khortytsia," Viktor Trehubov, the enemy wants to encircle the city, but they are unsuccessful.
At the same time, the American Institute for the Study of War noted that encircling Pokrovsk is one of the key strategic objectives of the Russian occupiers.
